      В Казани на 99-м году жизни скончался выдающийся правовед, академик РАН Борис Железнов. Городские власти, в лице мэра Ильсура Метшина, выразили соболезнования родным и близким ученого, разделив горечь утраты. Борис Железнов считался одним из основателей юридической науки в Татарстане. Преподаватели и студенты Казанского федерального университета, где он работал много лет, называли его «патриархом факультета». Его профессиональная карьера была всёобъемлющей: от работы прокурором в послевоенные годы до деятельности в Татарском книжном издательстве. Особенно важен его вклад в формирование правовой системы в начале 90-х годов. Железнов принимал участие в работе конституционной комиссии Верховного Совета РТ и занимался разработкой основных республиканских и федеральных законов. В 1990 году он лично представил свой план государственного устройства России Борису Ельцину. Высокие заслуги профессора были отмечены государственными наградами. В 2017 году Минтимер Шаймиев вручил ему орден «За заслуги перед Республикой Татарстан», выделив его «железную аргументацию» и значимость при принятии важных для республики решений.
