The exhibition "A View of the World," featuring the works of KIU Associate Professor Polina Ilyushkina, opens in Kazan.
The grand opening of the art exhibition "A View of the World," presented by Polina Ilyushkina, Associate Professor in the Design Department at Kazan Innovative University named after V.G. Timiryasov, Honored Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan, and orientalist painter, was held at the "Shtab-Expo" exhibition venue of the "United Russia" Public Support Headquarters. This exhibition, organized with the backing of the Russian Society "Knowledge," coincides with the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, marking it as a significant cultural event that gathers individuals from various professions, ages, and nationalities. Kamil Sadriev, the head of the Public Support Headquarters, welcomed the guests and highlighted that the exhibition addresses themes of universal human values comprehensible regardless of nationality or religion, underscoring the unifying power of art.
Notable attendees at the opening included Mr. Jayasundhar, Consul General of the Republic of India in Kazan; Hossein Mansour, Consul of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kazan; Alexander Yagoshin, a representative from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kazan; Irina Terentyeva, a deputy of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan; and municipal deputy Ksenia Dromnyak. Also present were Lidia Ilyushkina, Honored Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan, along with representatives from the Kh.A. Yakupov Children's Art School No. 1.
The evening featured a musical performance by Cesaria Said, a soloist from the House of Friendship of Peoples of Tatarstan, who presented a medley in 12 languages, symbolically highlighting the themes of cultural diversity and unity. Irina Terentyeva remarked that Polina Ilyushkina's portraits extend beyond traditional academic art, reflecting the lives of individuals who shape both society and the state. The exhibition showcases a collection of portraits painted from life in Tatarstan, Russia, and beyond, with a focus on real individuals from various fields including labor, science, culture, and art. The artist intentionally avoids depersonalized images, crafting profound and unique artistic representations.
Polina Ilyushkina expressed that each portrait narrates the story of a person and their contribution to a collective effort. The artworks illustrate the connection between labor and creativity, as well as between daily life and art, which forms the foundation for societal progress. Special emphasis in the exhibition is placed on portraits of workers—individuals whose professional endeavors advance the development of the region and nation. Alongside them, portraits of creative professionals and custodians of cultural heritage are also featured.
The exhibition "A View of the World" acts as a platform for contemplation on values and the individual's role in society, showcasing how diverse life stories and talents create a cohesive cultural environment. The exhibition is accessible for viewing until April 17 at 31/7 Karla Marksa Street, Kazan, and is open on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
