Broadening Perspectives: KIU Interfaculty Student Group Returns from Learning Journey in China

      Students from Kazan Innovative University named after V.G. Timiryasov have come back from a thrilling visit to China. They participated in an international summer camp held by Eastern Liaoning University in Dandong.

      The two-week intensive program seamlessly blended an engaging educational component with a rich cultural and sightseeing agenda. The group comprised students from various faculties at KIU, creating a diverse interdisciplinary environment. The primary aim of the camp was to enhance students’ language skills, break down communication barriers, and explore a completely new country and culture. The curriculum featured daily practical Chinese language lessons with native speakers, with lectures and interactive sessions tailored to accommodate varying levels of student expertise. Alongside language instruction, KIU students engaged in a series of master classes and interactive activities focused on Chinese culture, where they learned the fundamentals of Chinese calligraphy and participated in the preparation of traditional Chinese dumplings, mastering the techniques of rolling dough, shaping dumplings, and making authentic fillings under the guidance of professional chefs.

      The camp’s sightseeing activities allowed KIU students to experience the main historical, technological, and natural landmarks of the Liaoning province. One of the most striking and memorable moments was climbing a section of the Great Wall of China, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountainous landscape.

      “The trip was unforgettable! The Chinese hosts received us with great warmth and organized productive and memorable days! The schedule was so full that we hardly noticed how quickly the time flew! Many of my dreams and those of other students became a reality! The highlight was seeing the Great Wall of China and the dilapidated bridge in Dandong! Everyone was excited, and it was hard to believe our eyes! Without a doubt, the cities we visited, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Dandong, will stay with me forever! Thank you, KIU, for this opportunity,” expressed Darya Abramova, a student from the Faculty of Applied Economics and Financial Technologies at KIU.

      Participation in the summer camp at Eastern Liaoning University represented a significant advancement in KIU’s international relations. As students from different faculties journeyed to China, they were able to gain insights into the country from the perspective of their respective future professions, broadening their horizons. The experience not only provided invaluable skills in intercultural communication but also fostered lasting friendships with their Chinese counterparts.
