      Conditions for children with disabilities will also be improved in the schools. For example, Gymnasium No. 13 will be equipped with a special area for students to work with specialists, and special exercise and sensory equipment will be installed.

      Extensive construction and repair work is underway in Kazan schools ahead of the new academic year. According to a statement by Ilya Korotikhin, director of the Municipal Budgetary Institution “Department for the Maintenance and Servicing of Social Sphere Institutions of Kazan,” made at a “Business Monday” meeting at city hall, workers are already installing new checkpoints at the schools. According to the department head, partial major repairs are currently underway at Gymnasium No. 125, where 139.3 million rubles have been allocated for the renovation. At the same time, the second phase of repair work is underway at School No. 130 named after Hero of Russia Major Ashikhmin — funding for this amounted to 276.7 million rubles. These works are being carried out as part of the national project “Youth and Children.” Korotikhin also touched on the renovation of school canteens. He said that 271 million rubles have been allocated this year for the modernization of 12 food service units. During the repairs, contractors replaced engineering utilities, completed finishing work in the production areas and in the dining areas. Work is currently being completed on the installation of modern equipment and furniture, which will improve the quality of schoolchildren’s meals.

      In addition, the official said, work is currently underway to install checkpoints at Lyceum No. 23 and Schools No. 161 and No. 171, at a cost of 24.9 million rubles. He noted that current repair work is still being carried out in 35 schools in the city.

      Earlier it was reported that 762.5 million rubles were allocated in the republic for the construction of two schools, including 602.4 million rubles from the federal budget.
