      With sufficient funding, the commissioning of the first stage of stations of the second line of the Kazan Metro is planned for no later than 2030.

      The Kazan Metro is preparing for a large-scale expansion – the first stage of the second line is planned to be put into operation by 2030. This information was announced by the general director of "Metroelectrotrans," Aidar* Abdulhakov, at a ceremonial event marking the 20th anniversary of Kazan's subway. "The approximate commissioning date is 2030. But it is quite difficult to talk about this, because everything depends on financing and the possibilities of the budget," Abdulhakov noted, stressing the conditional nature of these forecasts.

      As "Tatar-inform" reports, in turn the head of the republic's Ministry of Transport and Highways, Farit Khanifov, did not rule out that the opening of new metro stations could happen earlier – in 2027. "Probably, in 2027 we will come to the point when we launch additional stations. The whole city and the population of the republic are waiting for them," he said.

      Note that the first stage of the second branch includes four new stations that will continue the existing metro line. Construction has been underway since 1997, and the project is now entering a decisive phase.

      Earlier it was reported that the Deputy Minister of Construction of Tatarstan, Ilshat Gimaev, also made an optimistic forecast regarding the opening of the second metro line. According to the official, the stations of the first section of the second line of the Kazan Metro could be launched by 2028. Note that to date residents actively use 11 stations on the single line, the most recent of which – "Dubravnaya" – opened six years ago.
