Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Alexander Moiseyev delivered a greeting:
"We are witnessing a historic event — the ceremonial hoisting of the St. Andrew's flag on three ships — on the patrol ship 'Viktor Veliky' and the small missile ships 'Stavropol' and 'Taifun'. These modern combat units were built at the Zelenodolsk Plant named after A.M. Gorky of the Ak Bars shipbuilding corporation in Tatarstan. It is symbolic that the flag raisings are taking place on the eve of Republic Day," he noted.
Moiseyev addressed Rustam Minnikhanov and congratulated him on the upcoming holiday. He wished the republic prosperity and development. In his response the Head of Tatarstan noted the significance of the event and expressed confidence in the high combat readiness of the ships:
"Dear Alexander Alekseevich, dear comrades! On behalf of the Republic of Tatarstan I want to congratulate you, the command and the entire personnel of the Baltic Fleet and the Caspian Flotilla on a remarkable event — the solemn ceremony of hoisting the naval flags simultaneously on three ships built by the pride of our republic in shipbuilding — the Zelenodolsk Plant named after A.M. Gorky. It is gratifying and symbolic that such a solemn event is taking place on the eve of the celebration of Republic Day of Tatarstan. This maritime ritual is a landmark event both for the entire Navy of the Russian Federation and for Tatarstan shipbuilders. This year is special for our plant. The enterprise is celebrating 130 years of production activity, the confirmation of whose success is also today's ceremony. I am sure that thanks to the professional actions of the personnel, our ships will serve with dignity, preserving and increasing the traditions of the Russian fleet, contributing to strengthening the combat power of the Motherland and reliably guarding the state interests of our country."
Minnikhanov also emphasized the importance of further cooperation:
"We are proud that the ships launched from the slipways of the Zelenodolsk Plant named after A.M. Gorky today are entering a strong combat family and are confident that our fruitful cooperation will continue to contribute to the effective work on construction and operation of orders for the Russian Navy. I wish all honored guests, participants of the ceremony and the crews of the ships good health, peace, well-being and success in defending the borders of our Motherland."
The ceremony concluded with the raising of the flags and the performance of the National Anthem of the Russian Federation.
