Tatarstan entered the country's top 10 regions by the number of manufacturers of school supplies.

      The Republic of Tatarstan has entered the list of Russia’s leading regions by number of small and medium-sized enterprises specializing in the production of school supplies. In the region, 116 business entities are engaged in the production of products for schoolchildren.

      Across Russia there are about 4.6 thousand companies specializing in school supplies. Over the past three years their number has grown by roughly 200. The largest increase has been recorded among manufacturers of educational process equipment, including digital laboratories and interactive exhibits.

      The top three regions by production volume in the Russian Federation are Moscow, Saint Petersburg and the Moscow Region.

      According to Alexander Isaevich, the general director of the SME Corporation, the average age of companies in this sector is 10 years, whereas among small and medium-sized enterprises overall it is 7.5 years. This is primarily due to steady demand for the products they produce, which makes the niche stable and growing.

      Among sectors by growth, small and medium-sized enterprises producing suitcases and bags (+18%), including briefcases, backpacks and so on, are leading. The list of leading directions is rounded out by producers of children’s, including school, food (+12%).

      Recall that Tatarstan has more than 180 thousand small and medium-sized enterprises, providing jobs for about 830 thousand people. This is 40% of those employed in the republic’s economy.

      Support for small and medium-sized businesses is provided by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan and its subordinate development institutions under the national project “Effective and Competitive Economy”.
