Russian figure skater and native of Kazan Kamila Valieva is determined to resume her sporting career after her disqualification ends. This was reported by sports commentator and TV host Dmitry Guberniev in an interview with TASS. “What is Kamila’s mood? She’s in the mood to return; she will begin training in October, in December she can already compete, come back and beat everyone,” Guberniev said.
Recall that the Court of Arbitration for Sport disqualified Valieva on January 29, 2024 for violating anti-doping rules, granting the World Anti-Doping Agency’s request for a four-year suspension, counted from December 25, 2021. The reason for the disqualification was the detection of the banned substance trimetazidine in the athlete’s sample. Valieva’s ban expires on December 25, 2025. According to Guberniev, Valieva will be able to begin training as of October 25, 2025. Although she will not be able to take part in the upcoming Olympics, the TV host is confident in the athlete’s successful comeback.
“She won’t make the Olympics, but skaters have opportunities to compete afterwards; she’s still young, she will have another Olympics, I have no doubt about that; she will come back and beat everyone. Her mood is as combative as possible, she has become more attractive, matured — tall, beautiful, stately, and she will further improve her figure skating skills. I believe in her very much, she’s done a great job,” Guberniev added.
