Youth centers and clubs in Chelny are reopening after major renovations.

      In Naberezhnye Chelny, the Children's School of Arts was ceremonially reopened after a extensive capital renovation. The building had not been updated since it was built — 48 years ago.

      "You can see with your own eyes how beautiful the school has become, how it has been transformed. A full-scale renovation made it possible to increase the space. Our stage has been expanded and the classrooms updated," said the school's director, Nelya Boroznova, at the opening. "I have no doubt that the School of Arts will continue to write its history with dignity and beauty, because everything here allows our children to develop in many ways. I wish us a successful and creative new school year."

      Work began in February this year and was organized so as not to interfere with the educational process. The builders worked in stages: they started on the third floor and took pauses during graduation exams. After the reconstruction, classrooms for individual and group lessons were updated, and the stage in the assembly hall was expanded — choreographic ensembles can now perform there in full. The entrance area received a vestibule, which makes the first floor warmer in winter. Access roads and parking were improved next to the building.

      The walls in the rooms for dance, drawing and art theory were decorated after the renovation with thematic drawings developed by the city's chief architect, Malika Shamsieva, together with the school's teachers. Today, 550 children study at the School of Arts in eleven programs across the music, visual arts and choreography departments. Students regularly become prize-winners in city, regional, Russian and international competitions.

      The first days of September are full of similar ceremonies. Today, for example, Naberezhnye Chelny is expecting the Republic of Tatarstan’s Minister for Youth Affairs, Rinat Sadykov — together with Mayor Nail Magdeev he will open two more youth institutions. Thus, at 11:00 at 139 Shamil Usmanov St., the youth center "Orion" will open its doors after a capital renovation. An hour later, the delegation will meet members of the youth club "Prospekt" at the renovated building at 66 Raisa Belyaeva Ave.

      As the deputy head of the Naberezhnye Chelny executive committee, Viner Kharisov, noted on the eve of the new school year, not only higher-level budgets but also the city budget participate in repairs of schools, kindergartens and extracurricular education institutions. Over the past five years the municipal treasury has allocated more than 740 million rubles for these purposes. Taking into account funding from all sources, over 13 years the city has renovated 56 schools, 37 kindergartens, 38 cafeterias in educational organizations, as well as two extracurricular education institutions, six resource centers and one dormitory. The total cost of these works exceeded 21 billion rubles.

      At the last August conference of educational workers, Magdeev quantified the current need for repairs by the number of schools and kindergartens in need — there remain 16 and 57 unrepaired educational institutions in the city, respectively. The mayor asked the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan, Ilsur Khadiullin, to find funds to renew them.
