      Fraudsters, posing as employees of "Tattelecom," under the pretext of renewing a contract obtained access to the personal information of an 88-year-old resident of Leninogorsk, including SMS codes and passport details. After that a man who identified himself as a police officer called the pensioner and persuaded her to withdraw all her savings — 172,000 rubles and roughly $1,800 — and hand them over supposedly to his colleague. The "colleague" turned out to be a taxi driver who was later detained. He claimed he did not know what was in the bag and was only following the client's instructions, having delivered it to Kazan. After that the fraudsters disappeared in an unknown direction. According to the press service of the Interior Ministry of the Republic of Tatarstan, a criminal case has been opened in connection with the incident.
