The date of the Tinchurin Theatre's first performance in its new building has been announced.

      On October 22 the Tinchurin Theatre will for the first time perform a repertory production on the stage of the old Kamal Theatre building at 1 Tatarstan Street, which changed ownership at the beginning of autumn. This information was confirmed to BUSINESS Online by the director of the Tinchurin Theatre, Fanis Musagitov.

      The theatre is expected to present the premiere of the musical "Following the Dream" by its artistic director Aidar Zabbarov, based on hits from the canon of Tatar song. The first version of this production was created specially for the gala concert at the Days of Tatarstan in Moscow in 2023 under the title "Ezlädem, bäğyrem, sine" ("I Wait! I Believe! I Love!"), and the leading roles in it were performed by the well‑known singers Elmira Kalimullina and Ilgiz Mukhtdinov. According to BUSINESS Online, the head of the Republic of Tatarstan who attended that concert, Rustam Minnikhanov, recommended that the musical be shown in the cities of Tatarstan.

      It was previously announced that this season Zabbarov will also stage musical productions based on Karim Tinchurin’s play "Kazan Towel" and "Kazan Guys" by Mansur Gilyazov. In addition, a production is planned based on the well‑known novel "Disappearance After 200 Years" by Gayaz Iskhaki. Film director Salavat Yuzeev and actor‑director Ruslan Rimanas are also to present their projects.

      In an interview with BUSINESS Online the new artistic director of the Tinchurin Theatre also said he would be parting with a number of productions. "You have to understand that there are plays which, in my artistic taste, simply should not be shown today," Zabbarov said. "And if the republic has trusted my artistic vision and artistic taste… I mean some visual solutions, some directorial decisions, and the very existence of certain actors. You can’t perform like that today; I won’t put it any more bluntly."

      The day before, the troupe of the Kamal Theatre played its final performance in the old building at 1 Tatarstan Street. In the large hall there was a staging of the comedy "Görgörü Kiyäwläre" ("The Sons‑in‑Law of Görgörü").
