      Ak Bars suffered a heavy defeat to Yekaterinburg’s Avtomobilist in the first home match of the season.

      The Kazan side opened the scoring. In the fifth minute, Kazan launched a quick counterattack. Alexander Barabanov cleverly sent the puck around the boards. Vladimir Alistrov picked it up, slid the puck out to the crease, and from there Semyonov one-touched the puck into the net – 1:0.

      On the 11th minute the Yekaterinburg team equalized. Barabanov got hung up behind his own net and lost the puck. The puck came to Kashtanov, who managed to shoot almost from the crease past Bilyalov. Soon after the second goal arrived. A pass from the left wing went to the far post, from where Gorbunov calmly put the puck into the net – 1:2.

      In the middle of the second period Kazan could have equalized, but Evgeny Alikin made a great save. The Yekaterinburg players broke out on a counterattack, Reid Boucher broke free, closed in on the goalkeeper and literally tucked the puck into the left corner. Timur Bilyalov didn’t even move.

      Three minutes later the visitors were awarded a power play, after which they executed their set play to perfection. They set up in the opponent’s zone. Da Costa from the right came out to the crease and calmly sent the puck into the net – 1:4.

      Mikhail Berdin replaced Bilyalov, but that helped little. Khripunov made a pass from the right to a teammate, who calmly put the puck into the net. And in the last minute of the period Yekaterinburg increased their tally to six. Again the visitors scored on a counterattack. This time shorthanded. Gorbunov passed to Denezhkin, received a return pass from the right and easily sent the puck into Berdin’s net – 1:6.

      At the start of the third period Kazan pulled one back. Denisenko shot from distance while Dmitry Yashkin screened Alikin’s view – 2:6. And with 3 minutes left before the final siren Mitchell Miller scored Ak Bars’ third goal. It’s the American defenseman’s third goal in three games this season. The game ended 3:6.
