In Kazan the sentence was read to a young man who propagated Hitler’s ideas on social networks. The court found 18-year-old Yegor Maslov guilty of rehabilitating Nazism via the internet.
Today the Supreme Court of the Republic of Tatarstan delivered a guilty verdict against 18-year-old Kazan resident Yegor Maslov in the case of rehabilitating Nazism. The young man was found guilty and sentenced to a fine of 40,000 rubles. “To find guilty and impose a punishment in the form of a fine in the amount of 40,000 rubles,” reads the verdict announced by the judge.
Investigators established that in February of last year Maslov joined one of the internet chats where participants discussed events of the Second World War. As Tatar-inform previously reported, during the discussion the young man began publicly expressing support for Adolf Hitler’s policies and attempted to refute the facts of the German army’s brutal treatment of the Soviet population.
The investigation classified these statements as the public dissemination of information denying facts established by the Nuremberg Tribunal’s verdicts. According to the prosecution, Maslov had about two months to delete the unlawful comments, but he did not do so.
As a result of a psycho-linguistic examination, it was confirmed that in the text of his messages the young man justified Nazi ideology, openly supporting Hitler’s policy regarding the extermination of Jews and Roma. At previous court hearings Maslov expressed remorse, stating that he had changed his views on history even before the criminal case was opened.
