The head of the Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Kazan thanked a female resident of the city for her active civic stance.

      The head of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Kazan, Rinat Gabitov, thanked Natalya Prokofyeva, who on September 7 prevented fraudulent actions against an elderly resident of the city of Kirov.

      It turned out that the 88-year-old pensioner, following the instructions of scammers, had come to the city of Kazan and was supposed to hand over a large sum of money to the fraudsters. The confused elderly man was standing in the yard of one of the houses and was loudly discussing the transfer of cash with someone. A vigilant city resident, who happened to be nearby at the time, suspected that the pensioner might be carrying out actions dictated to him by the scammers. She did not allow the perpetrators to take his savings and immediately called the police to the scene.

      Rinat Gabitov presented Natalya Yuryevna with a letter of appreciation for her active civic stance. “By showing vigilance and concern, you were able to protect an elderly person from the actions of fraudsters. Your deed can serve as an example for many citizens,” the chief noted.
