To avoid infection or to begin treatment in time, medics strongly recommend not removing ticks yourself. “If after a walk in the forest or spending time outdoors you discover these unpleasant insects on your body, go to the emergency department. There they will professionally remove the parasite and send it for laboratory testing to rule out dangerous diseases such as encephalitis or borreliosis,” says emergency doctor Sergey Shishkin. Doctors warn: this year more than 1,000 examined ticks were carriers of the severe disease borreliosis.
