Water polo team KOS-Sintez will enter the season without any changes to its roster.

      Kazan water polo club "KOS-Sintez" is approaching the new season with the same roster that won the championship title last season. Young players from the junior team will be called up to the senior squad. This was said at a press conference at "Tatar-inform" by the team's general director Maksim Osmolovsky.

      "The objectives for the season remain the highest: victory in the Russian championship and cup. The roster is also unchanged. The players are all the same ones who won the championship last season. Youth will be added. For any club it is important to have homegrown players in the squad," he said.

      This year the Russian championship will be held under new rules tested at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. The playing area has been shortened by five meters, and the attack and exclusion times have also been reduced, Osmolovsky added.

      At the same time, only victories in all tournaments are expected from "KOS-Sintez," added the Minister of Sport of the Republic of Tatarstan Vladimir Leonov.

      "We hope that this season the championship stride of one of our favorite Tatarstan clubs, 'KOS-Sintez', will continue. Stability is a sign of mastery. They have been at the top for two seasons already. The water polo season is long; we believe the team will continue to delight us," Leonov said.

      He added that closer to the final rounds of the national championship some matches may be moved from the "Sintez" pool to the Palace of Water Sports.

      In the first match of the new season "KOS-Sintez" will play Volgograd's "Spartak" for the Russian Super Cup in Moscow, and the championship itself will begin on October 9, said the team's head coach Evgeny Yaroshchuk.

      "We completed a long training camp and are coming into the Super Cup match in optimal form. We will be bringing in young players throughout the season. The new rules have made the game faster and more dynamic. We have updated our tactical scheme and will try to play more aggressively in defense," emphasized the head coach.

      The Russian Super Cup match will serve as the presentation of the Eurasian Water Polo League. It is expected that soon the national championship will be reorganized and teams from other countries will begin to play in it, similar to what happens in basketball and hockey.
