      Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin approved a decree on the transfer of days off in 2026. The document regulates public and non-working days for the next year. According to the approved schedule, the extended New Year holidays in 2026 will last 12 days — from December 31, 2025, through January 11, 2026, inclusive. The transfer of days became possible because the days falling on Saturday and Sunday, January 3 and 4, will be moved to January 9 (Friday) and December 31 (Thursday), respectively. In addition to the New Year holidays, Russians will have several periods of long weekends in 2026:

      • February 21–23 (in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day)

      • March 7–9 (International Women’s Day)

      • May 1–3 (Spring and Labor Day)

      • May 9–11 (Victory Day celebrations)

      • June 12–14 (Russia Day)

      Additional non-working days in 2026 are declared to be November 4 (Unity Day) and December 31.
