      Last Monday a new climatic record was set — the maximum air temperature, according to data from the aviation weather station "Kazan-Airport", reached +27.7 °C.

      The change in meteorological conditions and the new temperature record was reported by an expert from Kazan Federal University — Professor of the Department of Meteorology, Climatology and Atmospheric Ecology at the Institute of Ecology, Biotechnology and Nature Management, Yuri Perevedentsev. According to data from the Hydrometeorological Center of the Republic of Tatarstan, light rain is expected on the night from Wednesday to Thursday, and the temperature will fall — it will be from 4 to 9 degrees Celsius above zero. During daytime today, moderate precipitation is possible in places, and thermometer readings will range between 7 and 12 degrees Celsius. A northwesterly wind with speeds of 6 to 11 m/s is forecast, with gusts up to 14 m/s possible in places.

      "Yesterday's temperature record was caused by two factors. First, an anticyclone was pressing from the south on our area, which gave us cloudless weather and a large amount of solar radiation. Second, a cyclone descended on us from the north, and we found ourselves in its warm sector. These factors produced yesterday's July-like weather," Yuri Perevedentsev said.

      As the Hydrometeorological Center reports, the next day, Thursday, nighttime temperatures will drop somewhat — forecasted at 2 to 7 degrees above zero, with light rain expected in places. Daytime thermometers will show from 6 to 11 degrees. The northwesterly wind will remain tomorrow, with speeds of 6 to 11 m/s and gusts up to 14 m/s. During both days the sky will be cloudy with clearings.

      "If yesterday the temperature was very high, today it sharply dropped to around 12 degrees. Such an instantaneous drop was caused by the arrival of a North Atlantic cyclone. After the passage of the cold front, the entire region, the whole European part of Russia fell under the influence of an Arctic intrusion; polar air arrived and sharply lowered our temperature. We instantly moved from summer to autumn," Y. Perevedentsev explained the change in the weather.
