Photo: Amir Fayzrahmanov The cycling season in Kazan ended with the Night Bike Fest, which was attended by 4,000 people from across the country. This year’s festival was dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland.
On the night of September 27–28, 4,000 cyclists set off on an 18-kilometer route through the streets of Kazan. The start was given at 22:00 from the parking lot at 122b Yamashева Ave. A feature of the ride was a special audio tour that introduced participants to Kazan’s contribution to the history of the Great Patriotic War.
Throughout the route, traffic safety for the bike column was ensured by officers of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Tatarstan and the Traffic Police of the Interior Ministry of Russia for the city of Kazan.
The "Night Bike Fest" festival was truly large-scale and gathered participants aged 8 to 73 from 20 cities of our country — from Saint Petersburg and Moscow to Vladivostok. The average age of the athletes was 33.5 years.
The finish of the ride was marked by a DJ set, where participants shared impressions and celebrated the successful end of the season.
The festival program began during the day at the media library of the Uram extreme park with the open lecture series "The World on Two Wheels." Well-known Russian travel experts spoke to listeners, sharing practical advice on organizing bike trips and talking about the most picturesque routes in Russia and around the world.
