These devices, which combine multiple SIM cards, were used by criminals to organize mass fraudulent calls to residents of Tatarstan and other regions of Russia.
As Tatar-Inform was told by the press service of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Tatarstan, 8 SIM boxes and more than two thousand SIM cards from various mobile operators were seized from the Chelny residents during a search.
Criminal cases have been opened under the article "Ensuring the operation of a subscriber traffic gateway terminal or its main parts, committed for the purpose of committing fraudulent actions against an indeterminate group of persons."
Today the Naberezhnye Chelny City Court granted a motion to impose a preventive measure. The Chelny residents have been remanded in custody.
