      A 58-year-old resident of Autograd was admitted with massive bleeding from the bladder and acute urinary retention. The urologists immediately began preparing the patient for emergency surgery.

      Already at the examination stage the source of the bleeding was identified — varicose veins of the bladder neck. In addition, the patient required removal of a large prostate adenoma and a bladder hematoma.

      The complex operation was performed by chief surgeon and urologist Rustam Abdurakhmanov and the head of the urology department of City Hospital No. 5, Dilshat Mukhametshin. The disease had a severe course with alarming symptoms.

      “We decided to perform a cystoscopic revision of the bladder by endoscopic method without incisions. During the operation we removed blood clots and removed the adenoma along with the bleeding vessels. Its size was 120 cubic centimeters. Imagine a large man’s fist — that is the kind of growth that had developed inside the prostate. Today such operations are the ‘gold standard’ for treating tumors of the prostate and bladder,” Rustam Abdurakhmanov shared.

      The bleeding was completely stopped; on the fourth day the patient’s urethral catheter was removed. Without a prolonged postoperative period he recovered quickly and was discharged.
