In Tatarstan, measures are being implemented to create a long-term care system (LTC) under the federal "Older Generation" project of the national "Family" project. To date, 5,999 elderly citizens and people with disabilities have been covered by LTC services, the press service of the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Republic of Tatarstan reports. As clarified by the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Republic of Tatarstan, 5,651 residents of Tatarstan receive services in the form of home-based social care, and another 348 people receive services in the form of institutional social care.
Since June 15, 2021, a free social package has been provided in the republic for citizens included in the LTC system. Its volume may range from 7 to 28 hours per week depending on the level of need for outside care: level 1 — from 7 to 14 hours, level 2 — from 14 to 21 hours, level 3 — from 21 to 28 hours.
Because elderly people or people with disabilities are cared for by care assistants, their relatives do not have to quit their jobs and can continue their employment and lead an active lifestyle. Over the first nine months of 2025, 710 relatives were able to retain their jobs and continue working.
