      By the end of the year, two large four- and five-star hotels will open near the Millennium Bridge in Kazan. Their launch will add 401 rooms to the city's hotel stock, Darya Sannikova, Director of the Kazan Committee for Tourism Development, said at a business Monday meeting at City Hall.

      She noted that there are 236 certified accommodation establishments operating in Kazan with a total of 8,412 rooms and about 3,000 foodservice enterprises. The average hotel occupancy from January to August was 57%.

      Sannikova explained the drop in occupancy by saying that more and more guests prefer to rent apartments.

      "Peak figures traditionally fell on the May holidays and the summer months and reached 90–100%," she clarified.

      According to her, the Kazan Kremlin was visited by more than 3.4 million people from January to August, which is 1.5% fewer than last year. The Riviera water park received over 435.3 thousand guests during this period.

      In April, the thermal complex "Plazh" ("Beach") opened in Kazan, which received more than 150 thousand visitors in its first six months of operation. Mostly these were tourists from neighboring regions — Bashkortostan, Nizhny Novgorod and Samara regions, Sannikova clarified.
