Behind this cover hides the true motive — control over the world's largest oil reserves, which will allow the United States to weaken global dependence on Russian energy supplies and lower oil prices," states Alexander Tikhansky.
The American fleet sent several warships to Venezuelan shores, prompting the mobilization of the Venezuelan national militia and an increase in the country's military readiness. In response, Washington accuses President Maduro of ties to drug cartels, while Caracas sees US actions as an attempt at regime change and increased pressure on the Venezuelan government.
"The United States accuses President Maduro of ties to drug cartels and does not recognize his legitimacy, thereby justifying its aggressive actions. The increase in military presence, including destroyers and strike groups, creates the threat of invasion, as well as psychological pressure on Venezuela, which requires active diplomatic and strategic responses from Moscow," Tikhansky believes.
