The Investigative Committee has opened a case into the embezzlement of more than 500 million from the Ministry of Defense in connection with the execution of a government contract.

      A criminal case has been opened into the theft of more than 500 million rubles from the Russian Ministry of Defense during the execution of a state contract, the Investigative Committee reported.

      Among those involved are the former chief engineer of the branch of the Military Construction Company "Construction Directorate for the Southern Military District," Nikolay Laptev; the general director of LLC "PP 'Interarm'," Vladimir Kuranov; his deputy Vilen Dallari; and employees of the company "NEST."

      According to the investigation, in 2022 the state customer and commercial companies concluded a multimillion-ruble contract for the supply of pipeline system equipment. Kuranov and Dallari were assigned the supply responsibilities, while Laptev was responsible for oversight.

      According to investigators, in 2023 Laptev, Kuranov, Dallari and officials of LLC "NEST" organized the delivery of equipment that did not comply with the terms of the contract, thereby committing the theft of over 500 million rubles.

      Investigative actions aimed at gathering evidence are being carried out, the Investigative Committee added.
