An important and informative meeting dedicated to one of the most pressing issues — the fight against smoking — took place at the teenage club “Rovesnik.” Speaking to the students were Lidiya Nuriyeva — nurse at GAUZ “Agryz Central District Hospital” — and Elvira Kaziyeva — nurse of the Healthy Child Office of the children’s polyclinic at GAUZ “Agryz Central District Hospital.”
As part of the discussion hour, the specialists dispelled popular myths about “safe” smoking in plain language and answered in detail the key questions that worry many teenagers:
- How does nicotine destroy the lungs? The young people were explained that tobacco smoke damages the airways, leads to chronic bronchitis, and significantly increases the risk of developing lung cancer.
- Why do smokers suffer from heart disease more often? The meeting participants were shown clearly how nicotine narrows blood vessels, forces the heart to overwork, and provokes heart attacks and strokes even at a young age.
- What are the dangers of passive smoking? It was emphasized that simply being near a person who is smoking can result in a significant dose of harmful substances, which is especially dangerous for children and adolescents.
- What problems arise with the skin and teeth? It was noted that smoking leads to yellowing of enamel, unpleasant breath, and also accelerates skin aging, making it dull and wrinkled.
The event served as an important reminder that health is the most valuable thing we have. And we must take care of it by making a conscious choice in favor of a life without tobacco starting today.
