A criminal case has been opened in Kazan on charges of fraud involving a fake prize draw. The victim was a 28-year-old local resident who received a message on a social network saying she had won 230,000 rubles. The fraudsters explained that in order to receive the prize it was necessary to pay a tax, and they sent the woman a link to make the payment.
The unsuspecting Kazan resident entered her bank card details on the fake website, after which 60,000 rubles were debited from her account. She never received the promised prize.
Police officers are taking measures to identify the perpetrator, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Kazan reports.
