Food prices in Russia may rise by 10–15% by the end of the year, an economist says.

      Food in Russia could become 10–15% more expensive by the end of 2025. This forecast was voiced by economist and head of the Center for Political Economy Research at the Institute of the New Society, Vasily Koltashov, in a conversation with a correspondent of "Tatar-inform."

      Earlier it was reported that food producers and retail representatives warned of price increases because of a new labeling fee. The matter concerns amendments to the Tax Code, under which manufacturers and trading companies will have to pay a state fee for each submission of information about the turnover of labeled goods into the state monitoring system.

      "I think that because of labeling food will become slightly more expensive. But because of rising fuel prices, because of a 10% increase in tariffs in the summer, prices for domestically produced food could rise by 10–15% by the end of the year," the agency's interlocutor said.

      At the same time, he added that imported food will most likely not become more expensive before the end of the current year. "For example, citrus fruits and other products coming to Russia from abroad," Koltashov clarified.
