Rare silver amulets from the era of Volga Bulgaria were found in the Menzelinsky District.
In the Menzelinsky District archaeologists have discovered rare decorations from the Volga Bulgaria era — silver amulets made in the late 9th — early 10th century. This was reported on the Telegram channel of the Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites.
The amulets are miniature boxes just over two centimetres in size, made of high-purity silver.
The decorations are adorned with granulation and filigree — a fine technique characteristic of early medieval craftsmen. Such finds are extremely rare: previously archaeologists found only a few analogues — two in the area of the Bilyar settlement site and one near the Zolotarevskoye settlement in Penza Oblast.
