Repairs to the bridge over the Bulak in Kazan have been completed.

      The major overhaul of the Romanovsky Bridge over the Bulak in Kazan has been completed. Although November 20 had previously been given as the completion date, the renovation was finished ahead of schedule.

      The bridge connects Mezhlauka and Kavi Nadzhmi streets. During the repairs the bridge span and its supports were reconstructed, a new roadway was laid, and railings and curbs were installed.

      For reference, the bridge was opened in 1913 under the name "Varlamovsky" and was originally wooden. There are two versions of the origin of the new name: in honor of the merchant Romanov, or in honor of the architect Pyotr Ivanovich Romanov.
