According to the draft prepared by the ministry, the basic recycling fee rate will be formed based on the type and displacement of the engine, and its power will affect a progressive scale of coefficients. For individuals importing cars for personal use, preferential coefficients will remain for cars with up to 160 horsepower: 3.4 thousand rubles for a new car and 5.2 thousand rubles for a car older than three years. However, cars with engine power from 160 hp will fall under commercial tariffs, which will lead to a multiple increase in payments. For example, the recycling fee for a Kia Sorento (194 hp) will rise from 3.4 thousand to 1.9 million rubles (by 57,841%). For the BMW X5 (490 hp) the tax will increase by 81,194% — to 2.7 million rubles.
