A forum titled "Russia–Africa: Politics, Economy, History and Culture" is taking place in Kazan.
These days in Kazan, at the Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies of Kazan Federal University, the VI International Scientific Forum "Russia–Africa: Politics, Economy, History and Culture" is taking place. The event rightfully stands as one of the largest expert platforms for dialogue on pressing issues of cooperation between our country and the states of that continent.
Among the participants in the discussion are more than 130 scholars, diplomats, politicians and students. The geography of the event's participants covers 15 countries, including Russia, African countries, the Middle East and Asia. The Bolgar Islamic Academy was represented by the academy lecturer Ahmad Sheikh Mustafa and the head of the Department of Religious and Humanitarian Disciplines Roman Ziyakaev.
The plenary session of the conference was attended by KFU President Riyaz Minzaripov, the representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kazan Radik Vakhitov, the assistant to the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan Marat Gatin, and the Vice President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan Aynur Timerkhanov.
Radik Vakhitov addressed those gathered with words of welcome. Taking the opportunity, he reminded that Russia, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, contributed to the process of decolonization.
"For many years we supported Africans in their struggle for freedom and independence, assisted in the formation of African states and their socio-economic development. Today Russia continues to help strengthen the continent's position as an original and influential center of global development; in particular, it supports the aspirations of a number of states to obtain permanent membership status on the UN Security Council," said the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry in Kazan.
Among the main topics raised at the conference are the study of African cultures, linguistics, the continent's economy in the context of globalization, African states in the modern system of international relations and in the context of BRICS, and other topical issues.
Ahmad Sheikh Mustafa presented his research entitled "Digital Chaos and Its Impact on Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers." In turn, Roman Ziyakaev gave a paper entitled "From Fez to the Modern Classroom: Updating the Teaching of Arabic Syntax Based on the book 'Al-Ajurrumiyya' Considering Its Maghrebi Origin for Russian-Speaking Students," in which he paid particular attention to the biography of the scholar Ibn Ajurrum and the specifics of teaching him to Russian-speaking students.
