      With the onset of the autumn-winter period a number of urgent tasks arise to ensure the safety of citizens in everyday life. Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said this at a republican meeting in the House of Government of the RT, the press service of the Rais of the RT reports.

      He stressed that the Ministry of Transport and Road Management of the RT, the Volga-Vyatka Directorate and the heads of municipal formations must ensure the full readiness of road machinery and anti-icing materials, as well as the regulatory upkeep of all categories of roads in any weather conditions. Together with the Traffic Police (GIBDD) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, measures should be taken to reduce the risk of road accidents in difficult weather conditions. District heads were instructed to complete as soon as possible the signing of contracts for the maintenance of the road and street network for 2026.

      Rustam Minnikhanov instructed the Ministry of Construction, Architecture and Housing and Communal Services of the RT, together with municipal heads, to prepare utility services and management companies for winter maintenance of public spaces, courtyards and pedestrian zones, including timely snow removal and hauling, as well as ice removal.

      He also noted the need to intensify efforts to educate the population on fire safety measures, to provide targeted social assistance to the poor for repairs of stove heating and electrical wiring, and to highlight fire safety requirements in the media and distribute materials on fire-prevention topics.

      Special attention should be paid to the safe operation of gas equipment. Since the start of the heating season, worrying incidents have already been recorded in the republic: in Kazan three people, including an elderly woman, suffered carbon monoxide poisoning, and in Almetyevsk two small children were hospitalized.

      "Gas services and management companies need to carry out broad information campaigns to explain to citizens the rules for safely using gas equipment. It is necessary to strengthen control over the condition of in‑apartment and in‑building gas networks, especially in the older housing stock. Special attention should be paid to checking chimneys and ventilation channels — it is their malfunction that most often causes poisonings," added Rustam Minnikhanov.
