Over the past two years in Russia, there has been a decrease in the number of divorces among couples with children.

      In the first half of 2025, courts received 163 thousand applications for divorce from spouses with children. This is 20% less than in the same period of 2024 (204 thousand), and 30% less than in the first half of 2023 (235 thousand).

      The number of granted applications also fell noticeably — from 198 thousand in January–June 2023 to 144 thousand in the first half of 2025, corresponding to a decrease of 27%.

      Annual dynamics confirm the trend: in all of 2024 courts received 394 thousand applications from families with children, which is 16% fewer than the previous year. The number of granted suits also decreased — from 415 thousand to 351.5 thousand.

      For comparison, for almost two decades the number of divorces among families with children remained stable — about 400–420 thousand applications per year. The exception was the pandemic years 2020–2021, when due to restrictions and reduced reception of citizens the number of appeals temporarily fell to 336–399 thousand. In 2022–2023 the figures rose again, but already in 2024–2025 a steady decline has emerged.
