In Kazan, a local resident lost a large sum of money when buying a graphics card.
A 31-year-old Kazan resident turned to the police with a statement. He reported that an unknown person had deceived him and stolen more than 100,000 rubles.
Police officers found that on a classifieds website the complainant had found information about the sale of a video card. After contacting the seller he discussed all the terms of purchase and delivery. After that the ad’s author asked for full prepayment and sent bank card details.
The man transferred his savings and began to wait for the item. After receiving the money the fraudster stopped answering calls, and the victim then realized he had fallen for a scam.
At present law enforcement officers are carrying out the necessary investigative and operational measures aimed at identifying and apprehending the fraudsters.
To avoid fraud, the Kazan Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia recommends:
- double-check all information you receive from strangers;
- under no circumstances disclose information about your bank cards and accounts to strangers;
- do not transfer money to unknown accounts;
Be vigilant and do not fall for scammers' tricks!
