      After the end of the New Year holidays, tour prices will drop by 30–60%, Tatar‑inform was told by ATOR’s vice president for international tourism, Artur Muradyan.

      “Tour prices, as a rule, begin to fall after January 15–20. On average the reduction is 30–60%, which is a very substantial figure. Thus, airlines after the New Year holidays cut prices by 50%, and sometimes by 70%, while hotels lower their rates by 30–40%. That is why the overall package, depending on the destination, becomes cheaper by 30–60%,” the agency’s source said.

      Muradyan added that the period of such discounts lasts until February 15–17. Then a second wave of price increases begins ahead of the March holidays.

      “The third stage of price increases begins for the May holidays,” the ATOR vice president noted.

      He stressed that over the past two years Russians have become very particular about choosing the timing of their vacations.

      “Traveling at lower prices, the so‑called smart travel, is becoming increasingly popular with Russians. People are comparing tour prices for different dates more frequently,” the expert concluded.
