Why is the cane white?

      There are two main dates in the calendar dedicated to blind people: October 15 — the International White Cane Day, and November 13 — the International Day of the Blind. During this period, many events are held in social service institutions.

      An informational and educational event for recipients of social services at the day-care unit was held at the Zainsk Center for Social Services “Radost.” During the discussion, the history of the white cane as a symbol of blindness was talked about.
