In Tatarstan, with the support of United Russia, 15 rural post offices were modernized over the course of a year.
A major overhaul of post offices was carried out under the party’s people's program.
In the village of Sokury in Laishevsky District, a post office reopened after a major overhaul. It became the 15th postal building to be modernized under United Russia’s “People’s Program.” Work began in mid-summer, while services to residents continued — during the renovation the post temporarily moved to the local club building. By early November postal staff began receiving visitors again in the refurbished building. During this time the interior and façade were renewed, the heating system was upgraded, and fire alarm and video surveillance systems were installed. For the comfort of staff and visitors, an air conditioner was installed, new furniture and modern equipment were delivered. The office is accessible to people with limited mobility and the visually impaired: there is a ramp, a widened doorway and a staff call button.
“The Sokurovskoye rural settlement includes two villages — Sokury and Obukhovo. These are old villages with many elderly residents who do not know how to use online platforms to pay utility bills and so on. This is an in-demand social facility for our settlement — people have always been awaiting the opening; everyone here uses the services of Russian Post. We are glad that the post office was renovated under a federal program. Inside it is bright and beautiful and has all the necessary equipment,” shared the head of the Sokurovskoye rural settlement, Radik Mavliyev.
The branch has one universal service window. A customer can send a parcel, pay utility bills or purchase consumer goods. The branch also offers sales on a self-service basis with open shelving and unrestricted access to all types of goods. The level of service is in no way inferior to post offices in the city.
“The post office serves not only residents of the village of Sokury but also the village of Obukhovo. In total, that is more than 20,000 people. Now all of them can verify or restore an account on the Gosuslugi portal. New services relevant to residents of small localities have also begun to be provided here,” noted Ilnur Mahmutov, director of UFPS “Tatarstan Post” of JSC “Russian Post” and a member of the regional political council of the Tatarstan regional branch of United Russia.
Under United Russia’s People’s Program, post offices are being updated across the country. Special attention is paid to rural post offices, since the post office is a center of attraction for local residents. In Tatarstan, postal branches are modernized annually.
“In 2025 the modernization of post offices took place in 15 rural localities of Tatarstan. They are located in the Aktanyshsky, Bavlinsky, Baltasinsky, Verkhneuslonsky, Drozhzhanovsky, Zelenodolsky, Laishevsky, Nurlatsky, Rybno-Slobodsky, Tukaevsky and Cheremshansky districts. Russian Post began modernizing rural branches in 2022 at the instruction of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and with the support of United Russia. During this time 88 post offices have already been updated in Tatarstan. The program will continue next year. In addition, repairs were carried out in another 15 rural branches at the expense of the Republic of Tatarstan. In total there are 869 rural post offices in Tatarstan,” Ilnur Mahmutov said.
Recall that it was United Russia that proposed the reconstruction of the postal network in rural areas and the expansion of the functional capabilities of Russian Post. The initiative was supported by the head of state, Vladimir Putin, who instructed the Cabinet to ensure the modernization of more than 25,000 rural post offices across the country in 2022–2025. As a result, a program was formed, the implementation of which is under the party’s control. Post offices are an element of social infrastructure alongside feldsher-obstetric stations (FAPs), rural clubs and points of sale for essential goods.
