      The Investigative Committee has launched an inquiry following reports of violations of the rights of residents of the village of Kalmurzino in Tatarstan. This was reported by the agency's press service.

      According to media reports, the settlement has not had its roads repaired for many years: there is no asphalt, the ground has been washed away, and deep potholes have formed on the roadway. Because of this, traffic is constantly impeded. Residents also say that, despite full payment for utilities, the village is not provided with garbage collection and proper maintenance of gas and electrical networks. Citizens' appeals, they say, remained unanswered for a long time.

      A criminal case has been opened by the regional office of the Investigative Committee. The agency is checking information about the long-term ignoring of infrastructure problems and possible violations of the rights of local residents.

      The head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, instructed the leadership of the investigative directorate for Tatarstan to report on the course of the investigation and to take into account the arguments voiced in the public sphere. The fulfillment of the instruction has been placed under the control of the agency's central apparatus.
