      In the Aktanysh District of Tatarstan, the investigation into the criminal case against a former court bailiff, accused of gross abuse of office, has been completed.

      According to data published by Chelny‑biz.ru, several months ago the man, while in his office, fired a shot from a traumatic pistol in the direction of a colleague, after which he continued to threaten him by pointing the weapon. As the source reports, no one was injured as a result of the incident, but after it occurred the bailiff was immediately dismissed from the Federal Bailiffs Service. After the completion of the preliminary investigation, law enforcement agencies petitioned the Aktanysh District Court to impose pretrial detention on the accused. However, the court denied this request, leaving the suspect free without any restrictions. Previously, no preventive measure had been applied to him due to the need to carry out all investigative actions and to establish a full picture of what happened. Sources for the publication also say that this is not the first time this bailiff has faced criminal prosecution on a similar charge. Previously, a case was opened against him on suspicion of forging official documents — reports of dwelling inspections. He was then accused of entering false information about attesting witnesses into the protocols and of signing documents on their behalf without actually traveling to the addresses of debtors. However, on that occasion the criminal case was dropped based on a decision by the prosecutor's office. Earlier it was reported that in Tatarstan authorities want to increase the maximum amount of administrative fines for violations of regional laws.
