      The Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia (FSIN) stated that information circulating in Telegram channels about allegedly sent letters offering to celebrate the New Year in penal system institutions does not correspond to reality. This was reported on the agency’s official Telegram channel.

      The reason for the rebuttal was a screenshot that appeared on social networks of a letter from a certain service called “FSIN Press,” in which users were invited to spend the holiday in a pre-trial detention center (SIZO) or a correctional colony. The FSIN emphasized that the e-service of the same name for delivering books and magazines is not connected with the agency’s activities.

      The service reminded that up-to-date and reliable information about the work of the FSIN of Russia and its territorial bodies is published exclusively on the official website and on the agency’s verified social media accounts.
