The court found a 61-year-old resident of Tukaevsky District guilty on two criminal charges: "illegal circulation of poisonous substances for the purpose of distribution" and "production, storage and sale of goods and products that do not meet safety requirements," the Investigative Committee of Tatarstan reports.
"By the court's sentence the man was given a punishment in the form of 1.5 years' restriction of freedom," the agency said.
As was proven, in the winter of 2023 the police entrusted to the future defendant for safekeeping more than 10,000 liters of methyl alcohol seized from illegal sale. But instead of guarding this dangerous substance, the man began to make non-freezing windshield washer fluid from it. He poured the poisonous liquid into five-liter plastic bottles, stuck fake labels on them and sold them. Before he was caught red-handed, unsuspecting motorists had bought 6,150 liters of the counterfeit washer fluid from him for a total of 17,500 rubles.
