Zainsk's young athletes finished the year with brilliant victories on the ice, the wrestling mat, and the running tracks.

      December proved to be a true succession of competitions and victories for Zainsk’s young athletes.

      Hockey players, wrestlers, skiers and other athletes ended the calendar year with honor, showing excellent results at tournaments of various levels.

      Hockey victories

      On the ice, the pupils of the Yashlek team, coached by Aynur Khusnutdinov, secured two convincing wins. On December 17 at the Davydov Arena they defeated Progress from Glazov 5:0. The Zainsk team claimed another tense victory in a shootout (4:3) on December 24 in an away game against Nurlat’s Ledok.

      Triumph on the tatami

      The period was especially busy for wrestlers. In Nizhnekamsk, at the municipal Greco-Roman wrestling competition our athletes won 2 gold and 4 silver medals. And in Zainsk a grand XXX anniversary freestyle wrestling tournament in honor of Grandfather Frost took place, where more than 60 young athletes competed for medals in their weight categories.

      Successes in other disciplines

      Skier Anastasia Nikolaeva brought home a bronze and a fifth place from the republican competitions in Bugulma. The young basketball players of Barsa held an exciting New Year streetball tournament, and the track and field athletes took part in fun races. Successful taekwondo tournaments and festive events for FC Lider footballers also took place.

      All these events vividly demonstrate that sport in Zainsk is actively developing, and the younger generation is growing strong, purposeful and worthy of continuing the proud traditions.
