Christmas festivities at the Zainsk Museum

      On January 5, Christmas festivities were held at the Zainsk Museum, immersing guests in the atmosphere of old merchant life.

      The central figure of the event was the merchant Beketov, who hospitably invited Zainsk residents into his home. He entertainingly told those gathered about the traditions that prevailed in merchant families, opening a door to the past.

      The holiday program was rich and varied: children happily played fanti — a popular pastime of past centuries; they also remembered the old game “Cinderella,” which added a special charm to the event; in a mysterious dark room the children experienced an exciting New Year fortune-telling that awakened their imagination and interest in folk customs; the merchant warmly treated the little guests to exotic fruits, allowing them to taste the flavors of distant lands.

      A nanny added particular warmth to the event by telling an engaging tale about a Christmas tree. Her story created a truly magical, festive atmosphere.

      At the end of the event the children made Christmas angels and cards with their own hands. These crafts became not only a souvenir of the day spent, but also an opportunity to take with them a piece of Christmas wonder. Photo by the author
