      The fires in the Yelabuga and Aznakaevo districts were caused by violations of smoking rules and faulty electrical wiring.

      On the night of January 7, a fire broke out in a private house in the village of Tatarsky Dyum‑Dyum in Yelabuga District. The blaze completely engulfed the log structure. During extinguishing operations, rescuers discovered the bodies of two men, aged 65 and 42. According to a preliminary version, the fire was caused by carelessness while smoking. On the same day a fire occurred in the village of Alkeevo in Aznakaevo District.

      As a result, a 68‑year‑old woman was injured, suffering severe burns. The fire is believed to have been caused by a short circuit in the electrical wiring. Smoke detectors were not installed in the house, and the property was not insured. The Main Directorate of EMERCOM for the Republic of Tatarstan reminds people of the need to observe fire safety rules: do not smoke in living areas, replace worn electrical wiring in a timely manner, do not leave electrical appliances unattended, and install standalone smoke detectors.
