Vegetables have become more expensive in Tatarstan.
In Tatarstan, vegetable prices have risen
According to data from Tatarstanstat, vegetable prices in the republic have started to increase after a prolonged decline: fresh vegetables and fruits have seen the most significant price hikes over the past week.
After several weeks of decreasing prices, vegetable prices in Tatarstan unexpectedly showed growth at the beginning of September. According to Tatarstanstat data, from September 8 to 15, the price of tomatoes rose by 6.4%, cucumbers by 4.4%, bananas by 4.4%, and apples by almost 1%. This occurred against the backdrop of overall deflation: in August, prices for fruit and vegetable products in the republic fell by almost 12%, while overall deflation was 0.6%.
It is worth noting that as early as the beginning of August, the price of potatoes decreased by 17.7%, while carrots, onions, and beets fell by 10-11%. At the end of July, the most significant price drop was also recorded for vegetables. However, the current weekly trend indicates a market reversal. Meanwhile, some items continue to decrease slightly in price: beets (-1.8%), cabbage (-0.9%), onions (-0.8%), potatoes (-0.7%), and carrots (-0.3%).
The situation in Tatarstan corresponds to the overall Russian trend – in August, the country recorded monthly deflation of 0.4% for the first time since 2022. It should be noted that earlier, specialists from Tatarstanstat pointed out that the monthly price growth rate in June was the lowest in the past three years – only 0.19%, while the overall annual inflation has been decreasing for the third consecutive month, standing at 10.07%.
