      A 44-year-old resident of Chistopol reported to the duty unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Chistopol district with a statement about fraud. The victim stated that unknown individuals had taken out three microloans in her name for a total amount of 69,500 rubles. During the interrogation, the woman claimed that she had not shared her personal data with anyone and had never independently contacted microfinance organizations.

      During the investigation of the criminal case, police officers established that about a month ago, the victim received a message in one of the messengers: "Do you know this person? He has died." After this, the woman, not realizing the consequences, clicked on the link provided in the message. This click allowed the fraudsters to gain unauthorized access to her personal data, hack her account on the "Gosuslugi" portal, and, using the obtained information, issue microloans.

      Based on this fact, an investigator from the investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Chistopol district initiated a criminal case under three counts of Article 159 Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Fraud" and Article 272 Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Unauthorized access to computer information."

      Police officers strongly recommend:

      - Do not click on suspicious links, even if they come from acquaintances. Fraudsters often use hacked accounts to send malicious messages.

      - If you receive a message that raises doubts, contact the sender by another method (for example, by phone) to verify its authenticity.

      - Use complex passwords and two-factor authentication for important accounts (for example, "Gosuslugi," banking applications).

      - Never share your passport details, card numbers, or codes from SMS with unfamiliar people or on suspicious websites.
