Mikhail Murashko introduced the new acting rector to the KSMU team.

      The Minister of Health of Russia, Mikhail Murashko, and the Prime Minister of Tatarstan, Alexey Pesoshin, introduced the new acting rector to the staff of Kazan State Medical University - it is now Ayrat Farakhov. Mikhail Murashko emphasized that KSMU is rightly considered one of the most respected in the country today. "Ayrat Zakievich has been officially appointed as the acting rector. He is an experienced leader, well-acquainted with the region, the management system, and regulatory framework, with a deep understanding of the challenges facing the education sector. I am confident that under his leadership, the university will maintain its achieved positions and, of course, continue its development," said the Minister of Health of Russia. Alexey Pesoshin noted that the Kazan medical school is widely known not only in Tatarstan but also in Russia, and for many decades has made a significant contribution to training medical personnel for the country. "With the support of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, the university is implementing a large-scale educational program and annually graduates more than 800 specialists, whose training is provided by highly qualified professors and teachers," said the Head of the Government of Tatarstan. He noted that Ayrat Farakhov is a graduate of Kazan State Medical Institute. "His entire professional path is closely linked to the healthcare sector of the Republic of Tatarstan. This is especially valuable when the alma mater is headed by a person who deeply understands its history and potential. I am confident that his professional knowledge and deep understanding of both regional and national medical challenges will serve as a solid foundation for new achievements of the university," emphasized the Prime Minister of Tatarstan. Alexey Pesoshin congratulated Ayrat Farakhov on his appointment to this responsible position and wished him success in implementing all planned goals and tasks. "I am confident that under your leadership, KSMU will maintain and enhance its leading positions, continuing to train medical specialists of the highest qualification," he addressed the new acting rector. In his response, Ayrat Farakhov thanked everyone for their trust. "This is a great honor and a significant responsibility. I understand that the university is primarily about people, outstanding scientists, talented educators, dedicated staff, and of course, students, for whom all this exists. My duty is to do everything possible so that you can be proud of your workplace and educational institution," he said. At the conclusion of the ceremony introducing the new acting rector, the participants thanked Ayrat Farakhov's predecessors in this position for their contributions to the development of higher medical education - Alexey Sozinov, who headed Kazan Medical University from 2009 to 2025, and Diana Abdulganieva, who held the position of acting rector from October last year until today.

      Ayrat Zakievich Farakhov is a significant figure for the healthcare of the republic and the entire country. From 2007 to 2013, he served as the Minister of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan, and in 2013, he became the Deputy Minister of Health of Russia. From 2014 to 2016, he was the Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation. He is a deputy of the State Duma of the VII and VIII convocations. Ayrat Zakievich is a graduate of Kazan State Medical University. He graduated with honors in 1993. He holds a Doctor of Medical Sciences degree and the title of Associate Professor, as well as the honorary title of Honored Doctor of the Republic of Tatarstan. He is the Vice-President of the "National Medical Chamber."
