In Makhachkala, on April 5, a residential building collapsed due to flooding. The incident occurred in the area of Pirova and Aivazovsky streets. Residents of the high-rise were evacuated in advance, and an emergency evacuation of residents from neighboring buildings is currently underway — their foundations have been washed away, and the buildings themselves have noticeably tilted. According to the regional emergency management agency, four more buildings are at risk of collapse. Emergency services and medical personnel are working at the scene.
— Currently, about 300 people have been evacuated. Some residents will be accommodated in temporary shelters, where they will receive the necessary assistance and support, while others will temporarily stay with relatives, — city authorities reported on their Telegram channel.

According to preliminary data, the cause of the collapse was flooding due to heavy rain. There are no casualties or injuries.
The disaster has affected not only Makhachkala: during the night, heavy rains hit Dagestan again, leading to flooding of streets and homes in several cities in the region, including Derbent and Dagestanskiye Ogni.
