"With my husband, we established production": how a family from Leninogorsk makes anti-drone curtains
A resident of Leninogorsk, Nadezhda Duvanov, a member of the volunteer group "With Love and Prayers," is making anti-drone curtains to protect against drones in the zone of the special military operation. Despite her age and health issues, she continues to help soldiers daily, contributing to the common cause. Nadezhda Duvanov's story is an example of resilience and devotion to family. "I was only 6 years old, and my little sister was 2 months old when our mother passed away. Our upbringing was taken care of by our mother's older sister. We grew up in love and care, never feeling neglected by our aunt," she recalls. The heroine's childhood was spent in the village of Chirkovo in the Bugulma district; after school, she moved to Leninogorsk, where she received her education. It was here that her family was formed. "I went to a classmate's birthday party and saw her brother, Mikhail. Tall, handsome, just back from the army. I was 18 when we got married on January 10, 1975," she recounts. The couple has been together for over half a century. "Only after 10 years did God reward us for our patience: our long-awaited children were born – son Maxim and daughter Ekaterina," notes Nadezhda. With the start of the special military operation, the Duvanov family did not remain on the sidelines. Their decision to help is driven not only by civic duty but also by personal circumstances – among their relatives are those who are performing tasks at the front. Nadezhda got involved in volunteer work through acquaintances. "Gala, are you weaving anti-drone curtains there by any chance?" she asked her friend Galina Osmanova. "We have the cords, but no one to weave," she heard in response. After that, Duvanov almost immediately got to work. In a short time, she made over a hundred anti-drone curtains. Such a curtain is a structure made of ropes secured with special knots. It is installed between trees: when a drone approaches, it gets tangled in the ropes and loses control. Volunteers note the simplicity and effectiveness of such means. Nadezhda works from home as her health does not allow her to stay in one position for long. "I can't stand or sit for long; hernias in my spine cause discomfort, so I often weave at home. My husband and I have set up our small production," she says. Her husband Mikhail actively helps in this endeavor: he makes special low benches for volunteers to make it easier for them to weave camouflage nets. The finished products are delivered by the family to the headquarters on Suvorov Street, where they are formed into batches for sending to the front. "Let the trap work effectively, let the enemy drones get tangled," with this thought, according to Duvanov, she ties each knot. She receives support from her children and grandchildren. Daughter Ekaterina works with her husband at a military enterprise in Orenburg, where products for the needs of the army are produced. On July 6, Nadezhda Duvanov will turn 70. A large family will gather at the festive table – her husband, with whom she has been together for 51 years, children, and four grandchildren. Relatives note that her example remains a symbol of hard work, mutual support, and loyalty to family traditions. In the Leninogorsk district, it is emphasized that such initiatives from residents become an important part of the overall support for soldiers and strengthen the connection between the rear and the front.
In his message to the State Council of Tatarstan, the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov thanked volunteers for their contribution to supporting the special military operation. "We see how difficult times have united our society. The people of Tatarstan are responding to the call of their hearts, providing support to our fighters, their families, collecting humanitarian aid for the front and for the cities under their care – Lisichansk and Rubizhne. I want to thank everyone for this important work," he said. The material was prepared with the participation of Ilmira Gareeva. Photos provided by the volunteers of the group "With Love and Prayers."
